Alicia Rutter’s appointment as Executive Chef
Monday, December 6, 2010
North Captiva Island Club is proud to accept Alicia Rutter’s appointment as Executive Chef! Alicia has 17 years experience in the Food & Beverage industry. She started her carrier as a bus person and dishwasher at age 15 and at a young age developed a passion for the industry. After realizing this was the career path she wanted, Alicia enrolled in the Restaurant School of Philadelphia and majored in restaurant management. She took extensive courses in chef and pastry chef training and after graduating, trained under the expertise of Chef Claudia Robinson, Chef Robert Scanlon and Chef Gustav Bast. Her experience eventually led her to the Chesapeake Bay area where she eventually worked her way to Executive Chef.
She spent three years mastering local seafood specialties which included rockfish, flounder, catfish and Maryland blue crab. Her talents and background made a great fit for the Executive Chef position at the Boathouse Restaurant at North Captiva Island Club and has already satisfied the palates of many visiting guests her first 60 days on the job. There have been many great comments online about Alicia’s expertise and she is a welcome addition to our team. Check out some excerpts from recent comments and make sure to make a reservation at the Boathouse restaurant on your next visit to North Captiva Island.
"Paradise! While you are on an Island, there is still plenty to do: Walking the beach, Kayaking, Jet Skiing, Fishing with Captain Ted (and enjoying a fresh fish dinner), boat ride to other islands, or just a drink at the poolside bar, it was the perfect blend of activities and down time. We ended our week with the sunset margarita cruise, followed by a gourmet meal at the Boat House restaurant. (highly recommended)"
"The Best Thankgiving Ever! This was our first time renting a home on Captiva. We loved it. Our whole family had a great time and the weather was perfect. We had our turkey dinner delivered and the arrival process was quick and efficient."
"Awesome vacation! The staff of Ncic were spectacular! They went the extra mile to be sure our vacation was the most fun ever! The boat captains were great and taught us a lot about the area. The Boat House Chef was wonderful."
"Great place to get away from it all! The island's best gem by far is their new chef at the Boathouse, Alicia Rutter. She's a Philly girl with extraordinary culinary talents -- she just plain ROCKS! Wednesday night was pizza night but she opened up her kitchen to make us anything we wanted (the kids still had pizza, which, as my husband commented, she should market because it's that good). Highly recommend the sea bass, lobster raviolli, and the scallops."
"My experience at the Boathouse We had the BEST dinner tonight at the Boathouse. I am sincere is saying Alicia is awesome. She is so enjoyable to talk to, so knowledgeable about preparing food and cares about quality. I love her!!! Great job. Can’t wait to go back. I will recommend her to everyone!!!!"
"Boathouse We ate at the Boathouse Sunday night and it was terrific. We had not been there for a long time, since our last meal there had mediocre food, poor service and a high price. Your new chef Alicia (sp?) is the best chef that's ever been on North Captiva. Please hang on to her, treat and pay her well. We plan to go again. "
